Happy Pi Day!

hey! it’s march 14th, or 3/14 or 3.14 of you want to get fancy.  whichever way you slice the date, it all adds up to PI DAY!!!need a refresher on what pi is?  well, according to pi-apedia, π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of any Euclidean circle’s circumference to its diameter.”

i like to think about pi this way:

here's a pi i can really understand

if you’re crust deep into pi, you might not agree today is really pi day. cuz according to pi-apedia (it’s a really good site!), “what some call “Real Pi Day” will be celebrated on March 14th, 2015 at 9:26:53 AM. These numbers (3/14/15, 9:26:53) correspond with the first 10 digits of pi (3.141592653).”  ok, nitpickers, the rest of us will go pi-pie-cuckoo today.

something that isn’t in doubt is that today is also…EINSTEIN’S B-DAY!  basically march 14th should be dubbed CRAZY SCIENCE DAY.

happy 133rd Al! i love his carefree expression and fanned out cotton candy hair.

you might be wondering, who created pi day?

physicist larry shaw whipped up a batch of pi day in 1988. see, you learn stuff in the van!

no matter what, make sure you get a piece of something sweet  - could be pi for pi day or cake for einstein’s b-day.  these are both relevant choices.

love,
